Narrative
I. Congratulations, You're Dead.
You are dead!
How fortunate.
No pain. No sorrow. No more dreadful responsibilities of being alive.
Yet, for some reason, your body refuses to stop walking.
You are a candle, slowly burning away with every step. A crow rests upon your head, carrying what remains of your soul.
It tells you of a place called Elysium.
A land without suffering, without grief, without the inconvenience of being human.
What a wonderful place.
How generous! Someone has built a road leading there.
So you begin walking.
After all, what else is a dead man supposed to do?
II. Eight Steps Toward Happiness
The road to Elysium is a peculiar one!
You may take only a few steps before your journey ends.
Only a couple of steps.
How very inconvenient.
Fortunately, you have a talent.
You discover that your movements can be remembered, recorded, and repeated. You can replay an entire sequence of footsteps for the cost of just one.
Perhaps the body remembers what the mind has forgotten.
Perhaps repetition is simply another form of existence.
Either way, the road continues.
And with each step, the obstacles become stranger.
III. Questions without answers
The road gets quieter.
No one to follow. No one to blame.
Only you. And the Eyes.
They watch from every corner, silently observing your journey.
Where are you going?
Is this truly your choice?
What are you still afraid of losing?
The crow urges you forward.
How convenient.
It's always easier to keep walking than to question the road.
Perhaps the Eyes were never watching you. Perhaps it’s you all along.
How unfortunate.
Even death cannot free you.
IV. An Invitation to Elysium
At the end of the journey, two doors await.
One burns with an eternal Flame.
The other watches with an enormous Eye.
The crow trembles…..
The Flame asks for your body, promising to free your soul.
The Eye asks for your soul, promising eternal peace in Elysium.
Both demand a sacrifice,
Both promise happiness.
How generous.
After all, you've come so far.
It would be a shame to turn back now.
V. Happily Ever After
If you choose the Flame...
Your body melts into the fire. Your skin, your bones, your shadow — all burned to nothing.
The crow, your soul, flies free.
No more pain. No more attachments. No more being human.
“Freed from the flesh, has your soul finally found its happiness?”
If you choose the Eye...
The Eye devours the crow, taking your soul and everything that made you, you.
You enter Elysium, a paradise without sorrow, desire, or suffering.
How wonderful. You have finally found happiness.
Too bad there's no one left to feel it.
“You have gained eternity, only to lose the one who wished for it.”
Epilogue — The Price of Happiness
Steps toward eternity.
A crow to guide you. A flame to consume you. A thousand Eyes to question you.
You walked to remember, only to forget why you began.
One door took your body. The other, your soul.
How wonderful.
You have lost everything, and Elysium has kept its promise.
No pain. No sorrow. No more longing.
Perhaps happiness was never at the end of the road, but in the steps you gave away to reach it.
Congratulations.
You are finally dead.
Your sacrifice is greatly appreciated.
